Socio-economic status of individuals and cultural taste of book consumption (Case study: Citizens of Tehran)

Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between "socio-economic status of individuals and the cultural taste of citizens with emphasis on consumption and reading books." The research method is analytical-descriptive and the research data has been collected in a survey (questionnaire). The statistical population is the citizens of Tehran. the sample size was selected using Morgan sample size table of 400 people. The validity of the formal research tool and the reliability using Cronbach's alpha (total) was 0.885. The results of the correlation coefficient between the indicators of the socio-economic status of citizens and the cultural taste of consumption or study of the book show that between the independent variables of individual education (0.401), father education (0.252), mother education (0.208) and There is a positive and significant relationship between monthly income (0.165) and the dependent variable of cultural taste in reading books. There is an inverse and significant relationship between job variables (-0.167) and residence (-0.169) with book consumption or reading, and the relationship between home ownership (0.078) and book consumption or study is significant (0.119). ) is not. Of course, the results of one-way analysis of variance test for cultural taste of consumption or book reading based on the variables of individual education, father's education, mother's education, monthly income, job, home and residence with the dependent variable of cultural taste of consumption or book study indicate a significant difference In cultural taste, consumption or study of books is proportional to the mentioned variables.
