A sociological study of the representation of Cultural identity in the lyrics of popular music in Iran between 2013 and 2018

Abstract

The cultural identity is one of the issues that play an important role in the cultural and social cohesion of a society. To this end, this study begins with the main question of what is the cultural identity represented in the Persian lyrics of popular music? For this purpose, an attempt has been made to extract this concept by analyzing the lyrics of popular music in Iran.
This research is qualitative and descriptive-exploratory. The method that is used is thematic analysis with thematic network technique .And the data analyzed in this method are collected using documentary technique. The sampling in this study is qualitative and of the purposeful sampling type.
It has been analyzed by N Vivo 10 quality research software. The results show that identify cultural identity in the lyrics of popular music in Iran can be the following aspects:
-aspect of WHY (religion, moral values, history and collective memory)
-aspect of WHAT (Persian Language and Literature, Geography, Common political and cultural symbols in the land, A sense of social belonging, Cultural and ritual heritage, Refers to spiritual wealth)
-aspect of HOW (Unity and integrity, Symbolic Mythology (Heroes), Historical milestones of Iran)
