Abstract
"
Childbearing is a key issue in any society, closely linked to demographics, sociology, family studies, cultural and developmental policies, and economic factors. What is examined in statistical studies under the term fertility can be influenced by the social, economic, and cultural conditions of society, and it can also impact them. Therefore, in studies and understanding of any society, the topic of childbearing from a cultural perspective is essential and significant for awareness of conditions and for outlining future programs. In this research, the aim is to extract attitudes and values, and ultimately to conduct a sociological analysis of the cultural components of the 'discourse on childbearing' within Iranian families on the X social network (formerly Twitter). The research method is qualitative content analysis, and the theoretical framework is based on Beck's 'Childbearing Project.' The results indicate that childbearing in today's Iranian society has moved away from being a natural and social duty for producing a generation and has become a matter of personal opinion, dependent on individuals' heartfelt and rational consent. As a result of the qualitative content analysis of tweets, three main categories were identified in the discourse on childbearing: parenting skills, individualism, and values of childbearing. Based on the theoretical framework, components such as 'project-based childbearing,' 'technocracy,' 'quality,' 'consumerism,' 'individuality,' 'self-love,' 'hedonism,' 'immediacy,' 'personal identity,' 'freedom of choice,' and 'sanctity of family' were identified within the discourse on childbearing (among Persian-speaking users of the X social network).
