Abstract
The present study, entitled “Social and Cultural Indicators of Child Rights in Iranian Islamic Society: Identification and Analysis,” seeks to identify the social and cultural indicators of child rights in Iranian Islamic society and describe the content of each of them based on the social and cultural contexts of Iranian society, the Islamic world, and the international level. The qualitative research method is with a content analysis research design. The findings show that child rights in Islamic Iranian society have eight social and cultural indicators, each of which has various dimensions and conceptual space. As a result, in Islamic Iranian society, the definition of a child and the age range of childhood also include the prenatal or fetal period from the time of embryo formation, which is why various rights are defined for the fetus, including the right to life; Accordingly, abortion is illegal and rejected. In expressing the right of children to have a family or a surrogate family, the Convention on the Rights of the Child emphasizes adoption, but in Iran and the Islamic world, the emphasis is on guardianship and custody.
