Abstract
The change in the religious order and foundation of Iranian society following the Islamic Revolution gradually led to the formation of civilizational theology to achieve a new Islamic civilization. Before the revolution, civilizational theology, which was not codified and formulated, was understood as extreme nationalism, archaic, imported, secular, and Western-oriented. This article aims to analyze the idea of civilizational theology that shows itself in the approach and documents of strategic plans before and after the Islamic Revolution. Accordingly, the theoretical approach of the article is derived from endemic and Islamic foundations. Using the method of documentary research and document study and using the method of total and then purposeful sampling, the author has analyzed 37 strategic documents and analyzed the propositions focused on civilizational theology in them. In total, the findings are presented around two axes: 1- Review of experiences in the descriptive layer including the analysis of the propositions of strategic plan documents (the shift from passive secular theology to constructive transcendental theology); 2- Theoretical-epistemological study in the analytical layer. Finally, conclusions have been drawn based on the capacity of the civilizational approach after the Islamic Revolution (study of the periods of governments).
