Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the role of life skills of Tehranian citizens on their media literacy. The study used Potter's media literacy theories and WHO life skills. The method of this research was survey and measurement tools, Saatchi et al. (2010) life skills questionnaire and media literacy questionnaire. Statistical population included the citizens of Tehran and the sample size was 385 using Cochran formula. In this study, multistage cluster sampling was used. Research findings showed that life skills and its ten components including self-awareness, empathy, effective communication, interpersonal skills, decision making, problem solving skills, creative thinking skills, critical thinking skills and ability skills Coping with stress is affecting media literacy of Tehranian citizens. Life skills also influence the dimensions of media literacy, which include the cognitive dimension, the aesthetic dimension, the emotional dimension, and the moral dimension.
