In this paper, after explaining the concepts related to the cultural economy, and the significance of addressing this issue, the effect of economics on culture and vice versa is studied. Further, in a comparative study, the development trajectory and the status of economics of the publishing industry, cinema, visual arts and tourism in selected countries of the world and Iran have been analyzed and discussed with regards to the factors affecting the market in each country. Finally, some solutions are suggested to improve the state of the cultural economy in Iran. Our findings indicate that the country in terms of components of cultural economy, in comparison with not only international standards but also other countries in the vision statement, is not in a suitable condition.
