The Islamic Revolution of Iran is considered an emerging phenomenon in the modern era. Exiting the revolutionary situation and establishing alternative values required the idea of institution-building. Revolutionary institutions, as a new form of institutions active in the field of public policy-making and governance of post-revolutionary Iran, were influenced by various variables in their establishment. The present article examines the historical conditions of the establishment of revolutionary economic institutions in Iran after the Islamic Revolution in the 1980s. The aim of the article is to identify the causal conditions and historical contexts affecting the formation of these institutions and to explain the institutional logic governing their establishment. The research focused on six revolutionary economic institutions, including the Mostazafan Foundation, the Housing Foundation, the Construction Jihad, the Islamic Economic Organization of Iran, the Executive Headquarters of the Imam's Decree, and the Imam Khomeini (RA) Relief Committee. The research method is comparative-qualitative and based on the Boolean algebra technique, which allows for the analysis of different combinations of causal conditions. The research findings show that the establishment of these institutions was influenced by three common conditions: the formation of supporting coalitions, the inability of the Pahlavi regime to solve political problems, and the emphasis and warning of the revolutionary leader in political discourse. The results of the article indicate that revolutionary economic institutions, as alternative institutional responses, have played an important role in redefining Iran's economic and social governance after the revolution.
