The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating cultural contexts affecting social discipline among young people in Tehran. This study was of an applied, descriptive-exploratory and qualitative type with a Grounded-theory approach based on Strauss and Corbin. The participants included 17 cultural and social experts and scholars who were selected purposefully and until theoretical saturation was reached. The data collection tool was semi-structured interviews and data analysis was carried out using three-stage open, axial and selective coding. The results showed that the desired model of the cultural situation in the field of social discipline among the youth includes five dimensions including causal conditions (cultural education and social upbringing, cultural reference models, cultural alienation and youth identity crisis, and inconsistency of policies with social realities), contextual conditions (social belonging and collective participation, disciplined urban design, cultural alienation of youth, media criticism of social disorder, and the educational function of cyberspace), intervening conditions (including group norms and peer influence, disciplined interactive spaces), strategies (mass media and public discourse, youth-centered cultural policymaking, civil institutions and strengthening cultural participation, and the role of art in institutionalizing social order) and consequences (moral conscience and self-control, youth participation in cultural affairs, culture of dialogue and conflict resolution, and social trust and constructive interaction). Therefore, social discipline rather a product of cultural structures and the social environment in which young people live, and there is not just one solution to manage it, and a combination of cultural, social, physical, and technological solutions must be used.
